It’s officially football season, and for many this is very exciting time of year. This time of the year is especially important if you’re apart of any football team. Reese Mathews is a sophomore and plays on Port Huron High School’s JV football team. Thursday after school he had a lot to say about his experience and this year’s season before the JV game that day.
At age 10, Reese was inspired to start playing, because he thought that it looked fun and his dad used to play as well. He plays guard, defensive tackle, snapper, and enjoys all of these positions. Playing football takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Reese stated that this is one of the hardest parts, “Practices are hard because they’re long and really hot,” he said. When it comes to the best part of football he says he really enjoys winning a game and seeing all his hard work pay off. When asked about how this year’s season is going, he responded with “So far it’s not too bad, but we are going to get better.” This year’s season has been very exciting for the fans and the players. With a few JV games left, only time will tell how the rest of the season will go.
