Seniors!! We only have 78 days till graduation! Thats crazy. We have been waiting for this day since we first began school and now it's finally here. But it's a little scary and overwhelming but then there are a few people who can't wait to leave. “I am hype af to graduate but i'm actually overwhelmed for prom.” Janelle Madsen ‘17. The thing seniors are most terrified for is college. Deciding where they are going, how they are going to afford it, do they wanna live on campus or get an apartment, what do they want to major in, so many things to decide in such little time. If you’re lucky enough to have all this figured out then congratulations. You should help the rest of us who are struggling!! Coming into senior year you felt powerful, you were the seniors, after three years of being lower than them, you finally are THEM! You get the cool prom, you get out of school early, you get exemptions from exams, it's finally yours. But the closer you get to leaving, you more anxious you get, and nervous. But there is one thing they are most excited for…. “Freedom!!” Sarah Stevens ‘17. We have served our 12 year sentence and we are finally free!!! Let the countdown continue!

“What does your dress look like, where did you get it? How are you getting your hair done? Who are you going with”? It’s just about that time of year where about every high-school senior girl is discussing prom plans. Chloey Struthers ‘17 gives a little insight on how she’s planning her senior prom experience to look. Chloey’s go-to for dress shopping is always online. She hasn’t purchased a dress just yet, but she shares that she’s looking for red/burgundy or navy in the color category. “The dress will definitely be straight fitting, I do not like big and fluffy at all.” “Who are you going with” is one of the most asked questions when talking about prom. Whether it’s your best friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, or just a large group, for some reason it’s always a big deal. Chloey plans to bring her boyfriend that has graduated last year, and then join up with more of her friends that will also be with dates to make up a group. When asked, Chloey shares that she didn’t attend junior prom last year, but senior prom will be her last chance to dress up and have a good time with her class. She is most excited to dress up and take nice pictures. Chloey was asked to describe in one word how she wants her prom night to go, and she responded with- “unforgettable”. Hopefully that’s just what prom is for Chloey, and the many other girls spending so much time and thought in planning for the night.
As I interviewed senior, Emily Collinge, about holidays I discovered what she herself would choose to make her own nation annual holiday. “If I could create my own holiday it would be national Harry Potter Day.” When asked how the day would be celebrated, Emily was sure to confirm her wishes of this holiday. It is a holiday that should be celebrated at home, with friends, in schools, and in the workplace. This holiday would give the fans of both the novels and the movies the opportunity to appreciate them by dressing like their favorite witches and wizards. The holiday would result in a fun and magical theme in classrooms of all grade levels. It could include a movie marathon, a time for reading the books, Harry Potter themed games, fun snacks and much much more. When asked what the traditions of this holiday would include Emily mentioned that there is nothing specific, just a celebration of the magical world that J.K. Rowling has created in any way that people choose. “It’s a day to appreciate how great the stories are, and it’s a day to show others of the happiness that the books and movies can bring.”
